Simplicity Creates Such Happiness

Happiness-- one word with a meaning bigger than the tallest skyscraper or all bodies of water combined. It is as big as life itself, after all isn't our goal in life to obtain Happiness?

I know I find Happiness in the most simplest of things.
Happiness is all around us, I find it in a song that captures my soul, a smile from a stranger that completely lifts my spirits, watching the wind make the leaves dance beneath my feet, taking a road trip to nowhere, or the look of innocence on someone's face as they steal a glance at the one they love.

I hate to feel that I'm not living the life I've always dreamed of living. I hate to feel the regret of turning down an opportunity or experience. We are only given one life, and I want to make the best of it. I want to enjoy every little thing-- every crisp breeze, every splash of the ocean waves, every flutter of every butterfly spinning around in my gut.

Sometimes you truly don't have the control over events in your life, but why not find the silver lining? I don't want to dwell on the negative and have it swallow me whole. I want to fight negativity and slay it like the beast it is. The road will continue if you allow it, and if you don't like where it is heading then take a new turn or pave your own road.

Catching Up

Well it has been a little while since my last blog post so I just want to do a little catching up with you. Since my last post I graduated from Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School. Before I graduated I officially became a member of the Phase Two honors program. It was a huge accomplishment for me because only ten students can be a Phase Two member at one time. Then in order to become a member you have to try out. I have to say that I learned so much from my experience.

Two weeks after graduating I had the nerve wrecking experience of taking my state board exam to become a licensed cosmetologist. After testing all day and having a forty-five minute wait that went on for eternities I was able to walk out of the building head held high waving my license to show my husband who was nervously waiting for me in the parking lot.

Last month I was strolling through the land of Instagram when I noticed a post that a friend I had met at Paul Mitchell posted announcing that the salon she works at was looking to hire. Although I wasn't expecting to find a job for a little while, I decided to jump at the opportunity. I called and spoke with the manager who gave me an interview. After my first interview I was asked to come back for a second interview where I needed to bring in a model and perform an A-line hair cut. So I came back, did the haircut and went into the office with the owner to talk. She offered me a job on the spot.  With pleasure I took the job and I have been very happy working there.

I am still working on building my clientele but I am enjoying all the clients I see as well as all the transformations I get the opportunity to be a part of.

Now that some of the chaos has calmed down I will be writing more blog posts along with Youtube videos. I just need to set up my vanity and I can get to filming. I'm really excited to have more free time to post. This is something that I really enjoy and I want to make it a larger part of my life. So please feel free to leave any suggestions on blogs or videos you would like to see!

February Beauty Favorites!

Well February is coming to an end so I thought I would share with you some of my favorite makeup products I felt I couldn't survive without this month! As boring as it may sound, I basically stuck to one look all month, because I have been so busy. So here are the products I used religiously!

First off, let's talk about foundation!

I have been using the Sephora Liquid Foundation along with the Sephora Matte Primer for a few months now but I love it with my Tarte Mineral Foundation. The Sephora liquid foundation is very light and evens out your skin tone while giving your face a nice glow.  Then the Tarte Mineral Foundation is the perfect finish. A little goes a long way with this product and it looks very natural while covering blemishes and imperfections.

Next, show off those eyes!

The Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette as been my absolute best friend! But before I get to that, I start off my "go to" look by priming my eyes with the Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion

...Now back to the Naked 3 Palette! I have been using the shade Dust all over my lids, my favorite color Nooner on the crease and blend, and then just a dab of Blackheart in the outer corners and blend. For the finishing touch a add a bit of the Benefit Watt's Up highlighter under my brow bone, and last but not least I cover my lashes with the Benefit They're Real! mascara.

Now let's put some color on those cheeks!

Nars...Nars...Nars... oh how I love thee! (As I'm sure you can see by the photos).
I love to use the Nars bronzer in the shade Laguna to contour, and then I dust some of the Nars blush in the shade Orgasm onto my cheeks. I am very fair skinned and tend to use the lightest shade of foundation, but I do not have any problems using these two products.

And pucker up those lips for my favorite lip product of the month!

The Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in the shade Jeffree is a beautiful coral pink that goes on like a liquid lip gloss and then dries matte like a lipstick. I have received many compliments this month while wearing this product, and it will last you all day!

These have been my go to products for the month, I hope they will bring you the happiness they bring me. Also, if you have any favorite products please share them with me, or any products you would like me to try and review, just leave the info in a comment!

Dreams and My Bucket List

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
H. Jackson Brown Jr., P.S. I Love You

The Future is this mysterious unknown that is so exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. As I try to envision mine all my dreams and accomplishments I want to make, rush around my head crashing through my mind like ocean waves against a cliff. There are so many things I wish to do in my life that I sometimes wonder when I plan to sleep. Life is too wonderful to not want to experience everything it has to offer.

With this thought I've decided to share a current version

of my Bucket List with you. As of now these are what I hope to do and accomplish in my life.

1. To live in a big city

2.  Eat lunch in Paris next to the Eiffel Tower

3. Get a Mars bar in London

4.Go with Trevor to put a padlock on the Lover's Bridge in Paris

5. Write for Seventeen Magazine

6. Publish a novel

7.  Finish writing the screenplay my friends and I are writing

8. Learn how to cook

9. Learn to speak fluent French

10. Meet Sarra Manning

11. Work backstage/on a set as a hairstylist and makeup artist

12. Have children

13. Teach English

14. Be an amazing wife and mother

15. Inspire others

Do you have a Bucket List?
Do we have any of the same dreams?

I would love to know what you hope to accomplish in your life!

Live by: Honesty

I got to talking to a client Saturday who gave me some words of inspiration. I commented on an adorable bag she was carrying as she reached to pull out her wallet. It had a quote about being brave plastered to the bottom. She smiled at my compliment and began to tell me why it was so special to her.

She explained to me that she chooses a word every year and focuses her decisions, actions, and choices on that specific word.  I instantly thought this was such a clever idea. So I got to thinking "What word would I choose?"

I took this Sunday to consider many words and I finally found myself content with the word "Honesty." It's not like I'm a person who lies all the time, but I find myself trying to conceal the truth in order to make situations seem like they are something that they are not. I want to take in all aspects of life-whether they are good or bad. My goal is to be honest with myself, as well as with others.
